Template - review with a lawyer before publishing. This reflects how the app
currently works, but it is not legal advice. Update the bracketed fields and confirm it matches
your final data practices and your jurisdiction's requirements.
Avail Alert helps friends find a good moment to call each other. We are privacy-first by design:
the app has no social feed, no public profiles, and no advertising. This policy explains what we
collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account details - the email or phone number you sign in with, and the display name you set.
- Your phone number - so friends you connect with can call or text you from their own phone.
- Availability - the recurring windows you set and your "free now" status.
- Friend connections - who you've connected with (both people must agree).
- Invites you send - to invite someone, your device turns their number into a one-way
cryptographic hash (SHA-256) and sends only that hash. We store the hash so their invitation can be waiting
when they join, but we never receive or store the number itself, and we can't tell whether a number is
already a member. We never scan or upload your address book; picking a contact only reads the one you choose.
- Push token - a notification identifier so we can alert you when a friend is free.
- Feedback - any bug reports or messages you send us in the app.
How we use it
- To match your availability with your friends' and notify both of you.
- To let you place a call or text through your phone's own apps.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service, and to respond to your feedback.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it for others' marketing.
Who processes it
We use service providers strictly to run the app: Amazon Web Services (hosting and database),
Apple (App Store and push delivery), and Expo (push notification delivery). They process data on
our behalf under their own terms.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account from the app, which
removes your profile, availability, and connections. To request deletion or a copy of your data,
reach us through the app's Feedback option.
Your choices
- Contacts access is optional - you can always type a number to invite instead.
- You can turn off notifications in your device settings.
- You can delete your account at any time.
Children
Avail Alert is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page and the "last updated" date when this policy changes.
